Specifications
This is my recreation of the Pink Palace Apartments from the Other World in Coraline, the beloved stop-motion animated film directed by Henry Selick and based on the book by Neil Gaiman. In the Other World, the Pink Palace Apartments transforms into a brighter, more enchanting version of itself, filled with charm, mystery, and striking detail.
The model highlights the Victorian-style architecture and whimsical atmosphere of the Pink Palace, complete with vibrant colors and intricate design. Inside, key rooms from the film have been carefully recreated, including the Kitchen, Living Room, Coraline’s Bedroom, Bobinsky’s Circus, the Theatre, and the Other Father’s Study. Fans will instantly recognize the house as the central setting of the story, making it both a nostalgic and visually captivating display piece.
I originally built this as a gift for a family member who loves Coraline. The build is massive and full of detail—because the Pink Palace is more than just a house; it’s a character in its own right. I wanted to capture that personality in brick form, creating something that both fans and builders could enjoy. The entire model is modular, with each floor removable for easy viewing, playability, and transport.
Room Highlights
Kitchen – Designed to match the film’s layout, featuring the stove, green side table, and central seating area. Detailed elements were used to recreate drawers and cabinets surrounding the space.
Living Room – Includes a detailed beetle dresser along with snow globes represented through miniature decorative elements. The famous door between the two worlds sits along the wall, complete with a purple glow hinting at the tunnel.
Bedroom – A simple yet detailed design featuring a recessed fireplace built into a double-thick wall for added depth, plus a canopy bed inspired by Coraline’s room in the Other World. A bookcase and teddy bear capture the vibrant, toy-filled atmosphere.
Study – Home to one of the most complex builds: a piano with movable arms and an open lid. Modular storage boxes sit behind it, and framed wall details reference the musical scene with the Other Father.
Circus – One of the more technically challenging rooms. The cannons went through multiple design iterations to balance detail with stability. A miniature circus tent completes the scene.
Theatre – Positioned in the attic for structural support, the theatre includes private side boxes and rows of seating. The stage recreates the performance scene featuring the boat and singing act.
Exterior Details
The exterior carries extensive architectural detail. The house is elevated to accommodate lattice and brick outlining while raising the porch. A wraparound veranda lined with flowing plant elements captures the Victorian style, while panel detailing enhances the walls. The staircase connects to the second floor exterior for added structural strength.
The Pink Palace is colorful, detailed, and instantly recognizable. It appeals to Coraline fans, stop-motion enthusiasts, and builders who appreciate unique architecture and storytelling. With its balance of playability and display value, it’s a piece that inspires creativity, sparks conversation, and stands out beautifully on any shelf.

I’m honestly blown away by the detail on this build. Every single room feels like it was pulled straight out of the movie.

The exterior alone is beautiful, but the inside is where it really shines. The little hidden details and references make it feel magical.

I bought this as a gift for my sister because Coraline is her favorite movie — she literally screamed when she opened it.

I collect display builds and this is easily one of my favorites. It stands out because it’s colorful and whimsical instead of the usual buildings.
